In today’s digital age, screens have become a huge part of children’s daily lives — from online classes to gaming and entertainment. But this convenience comes with a cost.
A recent Indian study revealed that children under five spend over 2.2 hours per day on screens — double the safe limit recommended by health experts. Similarly, global research shows kids who used screens for 3+ hours a day at age 2–3 engaged in 30 minutes less physical activity by age 5.
For teens, the situation is even more worrying. The average adolescent now spends 8–10 hours a day in sedentary activities, whether on phones, laptops, or television. This shift away from movement is creating a generation at risk — not only physically, but mentally and socially too.
Did you know? WHO recommends at least 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity daily for children and adolescents. Yet, most fall short of even half that.
A PUMA-Nielsen Sports survey found that Indian children between 6 and 18 years spend just 86 minutes a week on fitness activities — compared to the 420 minutes per week recommended by the World Health Organization.
According to the Active Healthy Kids India Report Card, only 25.6% of Indian kids and teens meet screen-time and activity guidelines. This imbalance of high screen exposure and low movement is impacting physical development, focus, and emotional health.
Research further shows that kids who lack outdoor activity are facing issues like weaker bones, reduced muscle strength, obesity, and even early posture-related problems. In the long run, this could affect their confidence and willingness to participate in physical challenges — both in sports and in life.
Movement isn’t just about fitness — it builds brain function, teamwork, and emotional regulation. When children play, they learn to share, solve problems, and develop leadership naturally. Regular physical activity boosts concentration, reduces stress, and helps release “feel-good” hormones like dopamine and endorphins.
But the biggest advantage? Movement done in a community setting multiplies motivation and fun. Kids stay consistent when they’re surrounded by peers who share their energy and enthusiasm. It’s not about competition — it’s about connection.
At TribeZ, we’re on a mission to bring back that sense of play and togetherness. Our programs focus on movement, not machines, and create an environment where every child feels supported and celebrated.
By blending modern training with community-based sessions, we help kids rediscover the joy of being active — away from screens, and closer to real-world energy.
From obstacle games to teamwork challenges, every session is designed to build strength, focus, and friendship. Because when fitness becomes fun and social, it becomes a habit for life.
The message is simple — fitness isn’t optional anymore. It’s essential for healthy growth, confidence, and happiness. The earlier children start, the more sustainable their habits become.
Let’s help our kids swap screen time for playtime, isolation for teamwork, and passivity for purpose.
